From Rockport to West Park...

a comprehensive history of West Park and environs by Ralph Pfingsten

The MUST HAVE coffee table book is here at last! Perfect for the current or former West Park resident that has "everything."

From Rockport to West Park

Ralph Pfingsten, local historian, former John Marshall student (Class of 1958) and former teacher (25 years), has pieced together a thorough history of the West Park area. Included in the 321-page book are over 340 pictures, 48 maps, and many charts of the area known as Rockport Township. The book is peppered with familiar bits of history as well as fresh insights and surprises regarding the neighborhood.

Mr. Pfingsten was born and raised on West 157th street off Munn Avenue. “This book started out as a history of John Marshall High School,” explained Mr. Pfingsten. “That’s the project I took on seven years ago. But, it grew to encompass the entire area because my research piqued my interest in all of West Park.”

Until recently, no historical society or formal depository of West Park history existed. Now, at last, much of our local history can be kept right at your fingertips. What a great gift and a fine service to the community!

Only 2,500 copies have been printed and they are going fast, so hurry! It’s the perfect gift for the person with everything! To receive your copy of the book, you can either stop by our office above KeyBank at 17407 Lorain Avenue (at Rocky River Drive), or mail your check along with your name and address and we will deliver or mail it to you.
