Welcome to another issue of the Kamm’s Corners Farmers Market (KCFM) e-newsletter, a monthly publication that brings you up-to-date news, offerings, and information about the market.

The Kamm’s Corners Farmers Market, held every Sunday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. through October, invites you to buy locally-grown fresh produce, bread, baked goods, cheese and dairy products, honey, herbs, and flowering plants! The market also features weekly health and wellness education, live entertainment, and cooking demonstrations from both local and celebrity chefs.

Several exciting events are planned for August! In addition to mouth-watering summer produce such as tomatoes, sweet corn, and peaches, several high profile restaurants will be doing chef demonstrations. On August 5th at 10:30 a.m., Dr. Stephen Flynn from Fairview Hospital will host a discussion on the Mediterranean Diet with food samples provided. On August 12th from noon to 2 p.m., come to the market to learn how to roast sweet corn on the grill and try an ear for $1—proceeds to support the Cleveland Heroes Run. Sign up for the race while you’re there! Chef(s) from Johnny Mango will be at the market on August 19th featuring something delicious from their eclectic international menu. On August 26th, barbecue aficionados will appreciate Chuck Yarborough of The Plain Dealer doing Smoked Texas Brisket, with our own Steve Lorenz (KCDC Executive Director and Certified Barbeque Judge) smoking a Pork Shoulder. In September, look for guest appearances by Pearl of the Orient, Great Lakes Brewing Company, Deborah Hanson featuring recipe(s) from Cleveland Cooks, and Stino da Napoli.

The Kamm’s Corners Farmers Market is also a family entertainment destination! On August 5th, come hear Michael McDonald of the Easy Street Rounders who play Americana, lyrical, and folk rock music. On August 12th, Jim Tigue, a self-described guitarist, performer, songwriter and member of local band TieDye Harvest, will perform. On August 19th, The Flip Side, a five-member acoustic band, performs. Brand New Hat, local favorites that play from rock to bluegrass, folk to classic forties performs on August 26th. Horse drawn wagon rides are also offered every third Sunday of each month. On August 19th YesterYear Horse and Carriage Inc. will be giving horse drawn wagon rides through the neighborhood during market hours. Bring the kids and join in the fun. Only $1 per person to ride.

Wellness demonstrations and activities will be offered in August as well. Complimentary spinal screenings will be provided by Dr. Vernalis from the River Chiropractic & Wellness Center on August 5th. On August 19th, Maria 'Puma' Reyes, an instructor at River's Edge, will conduct a yoga demonstration. Marilyn Valentino of West Park Massotherapy will be doing chair massages for a minimal fee on August 26th.

New farmers and a larger variety of produce are arriving every week. In August, expect heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, eggplant, sweet and hot peppers, melons, peaches, and early apples, among other fresh produce! Vendors include Conneaut Creek Farm, Cosmic Dream Farm, Emerald Necklace Inn, George Jones Farm, Hooper Farm, H-W Organic Farms, Infinite Garden Farm, Jorgensen's Apiary, O'Donnell Irish Fare/Engine 39, Ohio Farm Direct, Puritas Nursery, Rego's Fresh Market, White Family Farm, and Wonder City Farm. Every purchase at the market also earns you valuable coupons good for discounts at Kamm’s Plaza.
