Tribute to Detective John “A.J.” Schroeder

In honor of Detective Schroeder, we are asking all residents and businesses, with special emphasis on those south of Lorain Avenue and near the Police and Fire Fighters Memorial on Rocky River Drive, to participate in a luminary display tonight (Tuesday) and Wednesday evening starting at dusk. As you know, Detective Schroeder and his family are neighborhood residents. His visitation is today, and a memorial service will take place tomorrow (details here).

Please place tealight candles in lunch bags, line several along your sidewalk, and light them for a couple of hours at dusk tonight and tomorrow night to show your support for Detective Schroeder and his family.

Most dollar stores sell tealight candles (they are also available at Buyer’s Outlet in Warren Village—package of 10 for $1) and paper lunch bags are available at grocery stores. Use sand or other material to help weigh down the bags.

Those wishing to send cards of support or make a contribution can send them to the Eric Schroeder Education Fund, c/o Our Lady of Angels Church, 3644 Rocky River Drive, Cleveland, 44111.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Schroeder family.

Thank you.
