Save the Date for Wine in the Holidays! On Thursday, November 30, plan to join us for our third annual KCDC fundraiser at Puritas Nursery, 19201 Puritas Avenue, in Cleveland. Stroll among the huge assortment of holiday wreaths, poinsettias, and gifts before tasting six wines, specialty beers, and sumptuous appetizers. Enjoy live music by Brand New Hat. Details in our next e-newsletter. View a gallery of photos from 2005’s fun event taken by Outlaw Productions.
New signs mark seven entryways to Kamm’s Corners, thanks to Councilman Michael A. Dolan, who worked with the City of Cleveland to get them up. KCDC helped design the signs, which also acknowledge Kamm’s Corners resident Keith Sulzer, 2006 State Wrestling Champ. See him win representing St. Edward High School on YouTube. Congratulations, Keith!
Enjoy dining at West Park Station, located at 17015 Lorain Avenue. The restaurant opened two weeks ago, featuring an Irish, American, and Italian menu. Jason Salupo, the restaurant’s proprietor, used the City of Cleveland Storefront Renovation Program (SRP) to renovate the former Hastings Home Health Care location into a police and fire-themed restaurant, including historic photos of West Park. A red, white, and blue projecting sign in the shape of a badge pinpoints the spot for good food and fun. View the photo gallery at Outlaw Productions.
Check out Cindy Janis's article (page 5) in the September issue of Properties Magazine [12.9 mb download] celebrating the new look of Charlie’s Beverage and Mansour’s Tailoring in the Eadeh Building on the southwest corner of West 158th and Lorain Avenue. With the assistance of the SRP and Councilman Michael A. Dolan, owner Charlie Eadeh invested $54,000 in the renovations.
Construction has begun at the former East of Chicago Pizza building, located at 14747 Lorain Avenue, and it will soon be the place for New Orleans flavored chicken, buttermilk biscuits, and red beans and rice. Tony Smith, owner of 12 Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits restaurants throughout Northeast Ohio, will open lucky number 13 in Kamm’s Corners. The SRP will provide design assistance and a 40% rebate (up to $25,000) for the exterior renovation.
Also, the SRP will provide assistance to renovate the new home of Conserv-Air at 4181 Rocky River Drive. Owner Mike Aerni is relocating his heating and air conditioning business with twelve employees from Westlake to Kamm’s Corners. The renovation will feature sleek aluminum details on the building and a landscaped area with a monument sign. Welcome to Cleveland, Mike!
